Corrective exercises and exercise therapy is a therapeutic method that has a complete and accurate understanding of the anatomy, kinesiology, biomechanics, and balance & structural strategies of the body. Proper performance of corrective exercises helps to improve the quality of joint movements, cardiovascular capacity, and overall quality of life.

Corrective exercises are generally divided into three categories, which include:

The first category of corrective exercises is for those who have suffered from joint and spine disorders as a result of improper exercise, congenital disorders, or some acquired diseases. Usually, these people are aware of their disorder and seek treatment and physiotherapy specialists for treatment and control of their musculoskeletal conditions. Some of the most common of these disorders include Kyphosis, Scoliosis, Bowleg, Knock Knee, Excessive lumbar lordosis, Hip asymmetry, shoulders asymmetry, rounded shoulders, and etc.

The second category of corrective exercises is related to people who follow repetitive daily activities, incorrect physical postures in daily activities, bad ergonomics or inappropriate working environment conditions, incorrect sleeping postures, etc., and suffer from intermittent pain and spasms. They come to physiotherapists to cure and get rid of these pains.

The third category of corrective exercises is related to people who do not have any specific musculoskeletal problems, nor do they suffer from muscle pain and spasms. This group of corrective exercises is used to improve the physical condition of people, prevent the occurrence of musculoskeletal injuries, increase the general strength of the body, increase muscle strength, and improve the cardiovascular power of people, etc.

Today, due to the mechanization of lifestyle, reduced mobility of people, incorrect ergonomics of work environments, and inappropriate eating habits, the use of corrective exercises is essential for most people in society. Contrary to popular belief, the use of corrective exercises and exercise therapy is not limited to patients, and people who do not have any pain or disorders can also use these physiotherapy services.

The importance of corrective exercises becomes clear when, following an incorrect and sedentary lifestyle, with age, people suffer from muscle weakness, degeneration of joints, decreased cardiovascular capacity, and resorption of the musculoskeletal structure.

Therefore, with proper and corrective exercise, many physical disorders such as osteoarthritis, muscle shortening, decreased tissue flexibility, reduced cardiovascular capacity, joint pain, and many other issues can be prevented.

Many musculoskeletal disorders are acquired and are rooted in a person's childhood habits. Therefore, by carefully examining the musculoskeletal status of children by a physiotherapist, it is easy to plan for the control and treatment of many skeletal injuries and even prevent the occurrence of many of them.
